Rakau is a word in the "Maori" language (a tribe of indigenous Polynesian people living in New Zealand) that means wood. The choice of Rakau as the name departs from a dream and hope that in the future Rakau can rebuild relations with fellow "nesian" archipelago clusters. Polynesia, Melanesia and Micronesia in the past were closely connected to the Majapahit-era. Rakau is committed to choosing teak and wood grown in Indonesia. This is part of Rakau's effort to remind him of Nationalism as well as to introduce Indonesia to a wide audience. Rakau was founded on 19 October 2021 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Initially focused on Custom Furniture and Home Interior Home decor. On the next occasion, as time goes by, Rakau sees that tableware is the next opportunity where Rakau can be more intimate with users of its products. As with Rakau's motto "From Home Back Home", Rakau's products that are made at home will return home.
