Frankincense is an aromatic resin derived from the Boswellia tree which belongs to the Burseraceae family. Frankincense has several descriptions, including: 



Origin



Frankincense comes from the sap of Boswellia trees, such as B. sacra, B. frereana, and B. serrata. 



Form



Hardened frankincense is called benzoid, which comes from the Arabic word for sweet-smelling sap. 



Scent



Frankincense has a strong aroma, even when burned, the smoke can produce a lingering and lasting odor.



Content



Frankincense contains various ingredients, such as benzoic acid, styrol, vanillin, styracin, coniferyl benzoate, coniferyl sinamate, benzoeresinol resin, and suma resinotannol.
