POTATO is one of the leading commodities grown by our best farmers, in the Gayo Highlands, Central Aceh Regency, Aceh Province, Indonesia.



Potatoes that are commonly cultivated in the gardens of our farmers are the 'Granola' type, planted over 1400 MASL. Which are a potato variety that is highly sought after and in demand by culinary and snack business actors because the granola variety has a sweeter taste after processing compared to other types of potatoes.



According to a consultant in the field of agriculture, namely DR. IR. NURI ANDARWULAN, MSI, Potato Granola is a type of potato that contains low starch (16-18%) and high water content (more than 80%).



Granola potatoes are very tasty and very suitable to be processed into french fries, as vegetables to add to the composition of cooking gravy, or can be processed into various kinds of preparations in various restaurants, hotels, and various other culinary businesses.

So before we start preparing for export orders from consumers/clients, we always carry out field inspections to ensure the readiness of the farmers from planting, harvesting, and controlling the quality of this granola potato.



Some of the steps we carry out in the export preparation process for potatoes are;



1. Collecting supplies; from farmers in the field (garden)



2. Sorting process; wherein this process our team selects and sorts from the harvested potatoes by only taking potatoes that are included in export specifications, free from rotten fruit, black or green skin, fruit that is too small, and also a fruit with an abnormal shape.



3. Washing process; In this process, all potatoes are washed thoroughly and do not leave soil on the potatoes so that the pests carrying plant diseases are partially eliminated at this stage, in addition, there will also be a process of purifying pests and diseases (fumigation process) so that a fumigation certificate is issued.



4. Drying process; The drying process is very important where optimally sun-dried potatoes at optimal temperatures will produce potatoes that are resistant to decay longer than those that are not dried and lower in terms of resistance to wear.



5. Packing process; When our experts confirm all the potatoes meet the drying standards, the team will carry out packaging, where the granola potatoes we produce are packaged using wooden packaging which aims to reduce the excessive load on the potatoes that are under during the stuffing process in the container. Many producers do packaging using plastic or sacks, but we avoid it with consideration to significantly reduce the potatoes that fail to use after arriving in the destination country.



6. Stuffing Process; Stuffing in containers is carried out immediately after packaging and in this case, we use reefer containers to maintain the quality and freshness of the potatoes we export.
