Indonesian brown sugar usually comes from the tapping of coconut trees or a palm tree variant called arenga pinnata, resulting in a liquid called nira. It is different from processed sugar from sugarcanes because it has a lot of health benefits, such as: maintains blood sugar levels, supports digestive health, helps restore body energy, maintains the function of the nervous system, contains high antioxidants, and helps strengthen bones.

Our brown sugar originated from a town called Kutacane in Aceh, Indonesia. This is a significant detail since Kutacane is well-known to produce high quality brown sugar, be it the physical quality, or the flavor. Local farmers in Kutacane use nira exclusively as the main ingredient whereas the products sold in the market today mix processed sugar in a large amount in addition to the nira liquid.

The production of brown sugar is passed down from generations to generations. Not a lot has changed in the process. The unchanging method is not baselessly maintained, it is to ensure that every production will yield the best products possible
